For complimentary claims: Settlement of claims is capped at $1,000 AUD and calculated on the pre-GST cost of goods. Final settlement for a complimentary claim includes the pre GST cost of goods less the $100 AUD excess.

1. When you have selected the ATL option, your package is no longer covered.
2. Excluded items include:

• any high value goods including but not limited to processed tobacco or tobacco products, bottled spirits, bullion, precious metal objects, precious stones, precious jewellery, cash, gift cards, cheques/bank cheques, money, USB sticks (and documents stored on USB sticks), birth certificates, travel papers and photocopied paperwork securities, valuable works of art and antiques; 
• artwork – includes canvas artwork, framed pictures, jerseys and photographs that contain glass;
• mirrors;
• flowers;
• animals;
• live plants and trees
• temperature controlled or perishable cargo;
• vaccines or other similar medical or pharmaceutical cargo
• home contents or personal effects e.g. clothing, footwear, toiletries, electronic devices and travel items such as suitcases and backpacks;
• motor vehicles, aircraft, helicopters, missiles and similar goods;
• dangerous goods i.e. any goods specified as such in the current Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG) or in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) as amended from time to time and includes any cargo which may become a Dangerous Goods while in our possession or control for whatever reason.

An ATL (Authority to Leave) is given in the event of the receiver not being home to sign for the consignment. It allows CouriersPlease to leave your package in a safe place without obtaining a signature. Parcel Protect cover does not apply to goods that are instructed with an ATL.

CouriersPlease offers its customers automatic cover of up to $1,000 AUD per consignment. The first $100 of the claim is not covered.

Claims may be refused for goods appearing on our list of exclusions, or where the Terms and Conditions of Carriage have been contravened. Claims may also be refused if the underwriter determines that your goods were insufficiently packaged. CouriersPlease is a general freight carrier so your consignment must be packaged to withstand the rigours of general freight. The minimum requirements are:

• Sturdy, strong cardboard box
• Void fill such as packing peanuts or other suitable padding around the contents
• Additional bubblewrap for fragile items
• Allow 5cm between the contents and the side walls of the box
